The purpose of the part activity checker was to give sales and IT members an in-depth analysis of a specific aircraft part’s data in regards to its market value, popularity, and history with the company. The task given to me was to design a compact and intuitive app that was congruent with the Parts Page architecture and style. I gathered necessities from the IT team and discussed pain points with the sales tam to define the most findable, useful, and valuable path forward for a search tool such as the NPAC.

My research consisted of speaking directly with various members of the sales floor at Regional One to get a stronger grasp on what sort of elements would need to amplified or cut to make the NAVA software work as efficiently as possible. It was stressed that the addition of a physical part diagram was needed, and it became a vital introduction in ensuring accurate product quotes.

How can we design a sleek and modern user experience that echoes the company brand while also putting function first. The NAVA Part Activity Hub must be simple enough for a child to use it to ensure that all aircraft parts are being properly quoted and stored.

The process for looking up a part in the system requires a handful of modifiers, toggles, and filters, so another challenge was creating an architecture that made this process digestible for the user. I went with a three step prompt that carefully guides the user from start to finish without asking too much at once, as well as gave them the option to search multiple parts at once from the start.

Quoting and sales efficiency saw an increase of 22% from Q3 to Q4 and user feedback was very positive. I learned a great deal about the needs of a niche sales team, and the pain points of a tool that was designed and developed entirely by the IT team previously. It was invaluable to be able to meet with individual sales members and find their tech-knowledge benchmark and then apply that to my design thinking.

App Paths is a compact tool used by the IT department to manage and oversee access to Regional One’s internal programs, such as the Parts Page, NAVA Part Activity Checker, and more. The intention of the interface is to be blatantly simple and navigable for all IT members. I worked closely with the team to ensure that all needs were being met.
